Archeologist Nicolas Engel and Nikki Diana Marquardt at the MES AYNAK archeological excavation site 50 kms from Kabul…. where an excavation of buddhist treasures have been unearthed. Last week the site was the target for rocket fire during the night from the taliban threatening the excavation and its workers and archeologists ….on site. No casualties but great misgiving about the future of this extraordinary site…

Hi, I’m working on a post for the environmental website Treehugger.com about the threat posed to the Mes Aynak site by the proposed copper mine and I’m looking for an image to use with the story. Would you be willing to grant us permission to use your photo of the two statues on our site — with a photo credit and link, of course? You can email me at jenniferhattam [at] treehugger.com. Thanks!
